KickarooFC

Comparison

The part that surprises clubs later.

Most youth sports platforms don't charge you a subscription — they take a percentage of every registration your families pay. That reads as free in March and costs thousands by September.

We're not going to grade our competitors on features; those lists go stale and everyone picks the rows they win. Here's how each one charges instead, which is public, stable, and the thing worth knowing before you commit a season to someone.

How youth sports platforms charge, captured May 2026
PlatformSubscriptionCut per registrationPrices published?
KickarooFC$29–$249/moNonePublished
LeagueAppsNo subscription at all — the platform is funded by a cut of each registration. The percentage comes from review aggregators; LeagueApps doesn't post a rate.NoneUp to ~5.9%Partly
SportsEngine HQRare among enterprise sports software in publishing SKU pricing at all. The transaction fee is charged on top of the subscription; larger orgs are quoted separately.$79–$129/mo3.75% + $1.75Partly
GotSportTwo models. The $0 one adds a $3 fee to each parent's checkout; the other charges the club per player with a multi-year commitment.$0, or $4–5 per player/season$3 per registrationPartly
TeamSnap (Clubs & Leagues)Single-team plans are published (~$100/yr). The club and league product is a custom quote based on member and registration volume.Quote onlyNegotiatedContact sales

Jersey WatchThe closest comparison to how we charge. Flat subscription, no cut of registrations. From $29/moNonePublished
Spond / HejaGenuinely free team apps. Built around team communication rather than running a league's registration, money and compliance.FreeNonePublished

Published figures as of May 2026; vendors change prices without notice, and quoted enterprise pricing is by definition not something we can see. Card processing (roughly 2.9% + 30¢ almost everywhere) is charged by the payment processor and is not included above — every platform on this list pays it, including us. Check any figure before you rely on it.

What that means for a 300-player club

Say 300 players at $150 each — $45,000 collected across a season. Platform cost for one year, excluding the card processing everyone pays:

KickarooFC (Roo, billed annually)
Flat. Identical whether you register 200 players or 500.
$589
A ~5.9% registration model
5.9% of $45,000. Grows every time your club does.
≈ $2,655
$79/mo + 3.75% + $1.75 per registration
$799 subscription, plus $1,688 in percentage fees, plus $525 in per-registration fees.
≈ $3,012

The arithmetic is above so you can redo it with your own numbers. The point isn't the exact figure — it's that two of these three grow with your club and one doesn't.

Where they beat us

We're new. If any of these matter to you this season, one of the platforms above is the better choice and we'd rather you found that out now.

Native mobile apps

TeamSnap, Spond and Heja have polished iOS and Android apps that parents genuinely like. KickarooFC works in a phone browser; there's no app in a store yet.

Tournaments and brackets

If you run tournaments, the established platforms have bracket builders and we don't. Ours is planned, not built.

Referee assignment

Assigning officials, tracking their pay and handling no-shows is a mature feature elsewhere. We track officials as credentialed volunteers and stop there.

Years of track record

SportsEngine and TeamSnap have run millions of seasons. We haven't. That's a real reason to be cautious with something as consequential as your registration data.

Free, if free is the requirement

Spond and Heja cost nothing. If your club needs a team chat and a shared calendar rather than registration, money and compliance, you don't need us.

Languages beyond English and Spanish

We're built for translation and only two languages are in so far, one of which is still awaiting native review. Larger platforms ship more.

Decide from the product, not the table

The demo is a real mid-season club, and the trial needs no card. Both are quicker than a sales call.
